Hi George, You should have no problem canoeing on any of the Uist lochs, there are some that are being fished by anglers but have never heard of any problems,
What to watch out for on the sea lochs is the tide, large areas dry out for miles which could leave you stranded untill the next tide. There are places where short portages will take you from east side lochs to the west side lochs, the west side lochs are sheltered untill you are approaching the open sea where large swell would not be suitable for the open boat.
Loch bea is a nice loch to paddle this one is used by anglers.there is lots of exploreing on these fresh water lochs, map and compass is adviseable easy to get lost in the maze.
Enjoy your trip, you can give me a call anytime if you need any more information. Murty
