West Coast Perfection

April 21st, 2008

A 9am start in Stornoway saw us leaving from Mangurstadh on the west coast and Tim, Murty, Howard, Emma, Alex, Tim and I heading north to explore the caves and rock gardens. We had a good look at the passage through Eilean Molach but left it was just too lively. Emma was keen to land but Murty had promised us a beach in the sun and despite it only being a few feet wide no one was complaining! Heading south after lunch we found more excitement down the coast and after tea and a swimming demo from Emma (this time on a much larger beach) landed at the beach at Mealasta… perfectly timed before it disappeared on the rising tide. Clear skies, a fabulous coastline and just enough swell to make things interesting… paddling heaven!
